For all who know Northstar/Giant pro rider Nate Byrom, you know that he has a pure passion and special ability of riding bikes that are going to flourish himself into a accomplished senior professional athlete.  From placing third place next to Giant’s factory team rider Carl Decker in the 2009 Sea Otter super-d to  almost winning the competition this year, USA Cycling has recognized Nate’s gift and has invited the young man to Europe for a European Development camp.

In an effort to extend international development opportunities to a larger number of the country’s best young US Mountain Bikers, USA Cycling has organized three Cross-Country Mountain Bike Development Camps in Kirchzarten, Germany for the spring/summer of 2010. These camps will be based in the Black Forest of Germany with each camp extending over two race weekends.

The camps will provide high level European race experiences for the country’s best young mountain bike racers and give riders an opportunity to experience high level international competition.

Nate will be with a group of two U23 Women and 4 U23 Men and will compete in both the Bern Swiss Bike Trophy XCO on June 27th and the Flims Swiss Racer Bike Cup XCO events on July 3rd.

This past winter Nate has been attending Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado. The top rated collegiate cycling program in the country. Nate will be coming home from school soon and will be racing in the upcoming Downieville Classic and Ashland 12 mile super-d. Stay tuned to for up to date info on Nate’s journey of racing bikes and having fun riding them through out the summer.
