There’s a new Sheriff in Town

May 27, 2010

On April 25-26 Pro DH team riders Jon Wilson and Jordan Lopez ventured out to Jacksonville, Oregon where the forest is lush, the dirt is tacky and the single track flows like a roller coaster for almost four miles at a 1600 foot descent. With races like the Ashland 12 Mile Super D and the Spring Thaw, Oregon is gaining the reputation as the mecca for all mountain style bike racing. This event was the first annual Jacksonville Bike Fest that hosted a gravity extravaganza  of Super-D and Downhill competitions.

Jon and Jordan instantly fell in love with the area and it showed in their results of how stoked they were on the riding. Jordan cranked out a great 6th place finish and Jon soared to a 3rd place finish.

For trophies at this event the organizers hand out sheriff badges. We didn’t get the chance  to ask Jon what type of additional powers he has for running the town but I’m sure he will get first dibs on practice runs, and maybe a beer at the local saloon. To get the low down of Jacksonville through Jon’s eyes check out his post on his blog at http://ridetothehills.wordpress.com/2010/04/26/jacksonville/.

Jacksonville, Oregon is a historic gold mining town that was founded in 1851 by two travelers that stumbled onto it’s gold soil and has been established as a national historic landmark.
